Our response to COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced so many of the intersecting inequalities created by our economies and societies. Yet it has also strengthened the IKEA Foundation’s resolve to be part of building a different kind of society that protects the health and wellbeing of people and the planet.

We continue to respond to this global crisis in multiple, often dynamic and evolving ways. New programmes let us support those at the pandemic’s frontlines as they provide medical care to vulnerable groups, including unhoused people, indigenous communities and residents of remote areas. Because the pandemic only ends when threats of the disease end for everyone everywhere, we support campaigning for equal global access to COVID-19 vaccines. So far, we have committed €10 million to assist these projects.

But the pandemic also has shown us how important it is to remain focused on our main priority: to fund our partners’ transformational work and long-term programmes. We remain committed to helping families afford a better everyday life and fight and cope with climate change.
