Kate Brown

I have been with IKEA since January 2013 and was excited to enter my name in the IWitness Program. Graduating from college, I originally wanted to join the Peace Corp but was turned down for medical reasons and began a career in sports. Prior to working at IKEA, I have predominately been working as a Product Developer, Merchandiser and Marketer in the apparel industry. I have travelled extensively around the world working in and out of factories. I have seen child labour, human trafficking and cultural clashes first hand with some sad memories still lingering. I have always wanted to work with people in need and felt that I had missed my chance when I was younger. The opportunity to go to Lithuania with Save the Children was a welcome surprise when I was picked. I look forward to seeing how IKEA is contributing to improving the lives of children living in institutional care.
