Beginning in September this year, every store and the Customer Contact Centre and Service Office of IKEA Netherlands has a Social Ambassador. These ambassadors play a very important role in engaging their colleagues in IKEA’s global and local social initiatives.
From 28 September to 6 October, a group of Social Ambassadors will visit Rwanda with the IKEA Foundation’s partner, UNICEF. We are really honoured to be given the opportunity to go on an IWitness trip, a chance that only a few IKEA co-workers worldwide get!
The main goals of the trip are to see with our own eyes and show you how the Soft Toys for Education campaign improves education for children in Rwanda.
We will visit UNICEF’s Schools for Africa programme, which receives funding from our Soft Toys for Education campaign to help millions of children have access to a quality education. We want to share with you:
– the impact of Schools for Africa
– the country’s specific challenges and opportunities
– how Schools for Africa contributes to achieving Rwanda’s education goals
– the difference between schools with and without Schools for Africa intervention.
You can follow our experiences on this blog, where we will share our stories, photos and videos with you!
