Let’s make it happen together!

For the last two years, ambassadors from IKEA Taiwan have joined the IWitness Global Citizens Programme and visited China and Indonesia. We had a great chance to give our love to the children and see how children can receive a quality education with our support of the Soft Toys for Education campaign. With the support from IKEA Foundation and Save the Children, this year we are going to visit Cambodia during Dec 8-11, to see how the IKEA Foundation assists the local children in need to have a better life.

In order to recruit the most qualified ambassadors for the IWitness programme, we developed a recruitment programme in the middle of August. We created a recruitment film, posters and also our IKEA clubs on Facebook to encourage more colleagues join the programme. Nearly double the co-workers applied as compared to last year. All of them showed great passion through various creative formats, including video, photos, articles, stories and certifications as volunteers. We also saw many personal stories which are quite touching and encouraging. Finally, we have eight ambassadors, including co-workers from the sales team, customer service team, IKEA Food team, Interior Design & Communication department, and Marketing department. Most of us have been volunteers for various community service or public welfare activities before. Therefore, I believe we will bring lots of love to the children based on our experience and passions, and together we will create a special journey for our life.

This year, the main focus of our visit is to see how the soft toy campaign supports children’s right to an education and protects children from discrimination in Cambodia. We will be visiting two groups of children, children with disabilities and children from minority groups. Therefore, the group of ambassadors spent a lot of time studying and sharing information with each other before the trip. We excitedly exchanged any possible ideas to interact with the children there, such as local children’s songs and stories. We have prepared various activities and materials in order to share our love and bring wonderful memories for the children. All of us are looking forward to meeting those children from Cambodia! And we are ready to make it happen!!
