Hej everyone! I’m working at IKEA Switzerland, and I’m coordinating this trip to Bangladesh where co-workers from Switzerland will visit education programmes for children, run by Save the Children. Save the Children is one of our global partners when it comes to children’s rights and education programmes.
We are super excited about this trip we have in front of us and I have our three ambassadors here, travelling to Bangladesh. These IKEA co-workers have sent fantastic applications to be part of this trip and, due to their passion and communications skills, they had the good luck to get this life-changing experience, because that’s what we expect it to be.
We have a Soft Toy for Education campaign every year at IKEA, and for every soft toy we sell the IKEA Foundation donates CHF 1,50 (1 euro) to UNICEF and Save the Children. This money goes towards education projects for children and Bangladesh is one of many countries which benefits from this. Since the start of this campaign in 2003, the IKEA Foundation has helped improve the educational opportunities of more than 10 million children in 45 countries.
Bangladesh is located next to India, and it also borders Myanmar in the east. The country is about three times bigger than Switzerland, but with a population which is much much bigger. About 150 million people live in Bangladesh which makes the country one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
We would like you to follow us during our trip to Bangladesh. We will keep you up to date with films and stories and let you know about our experiences and adventures. We will also bring one of these soft friends with us: TORVA carrot, broccoli or strawberry. And the fans on our Swiss Facebook page will be voting and deciding which one should come with us on our trip.
You, you and you. Make sure you follow us on our trip!
