Nice to meet you, Cambodia!

This is my first time in Cambodia. There are eight of us who are participating in the IWitness Global Citizens Programme this time, and we hope to create happy memories for local children with the gifts and activities we prepared in Taiwan. We also hope to do a good job of bringing what we see and experience here back to our co-workers in Taiwan.

We came to Cambodia from cold Taiwan today. Surprisingly, it’s still very hot here in December; it’s about 34 degrees Centigrade. The sun is as passionate as we are—perfect for the start of our journey!

We learned from Save the Children’s briefing that one of their goals is to provide a safer and better-protected learning environment. Apart from basic education, local students are also encountering difficulties considering their safety and protection. Save the Children hopes to help them and improve the situation so that they can go to school without worries. I hope we can have a deeper understanding about this in the next few days.

Further introduction of areas we are going to visit in the next five days.

It was evening rush hour when we headed back to the hotel. The mother and child in the tuk-tuk next to us were also looking at scooters passing by. Compared to children walking by the street and crossing the street on foot, I feel much more relieved seeing them in a tuk-tuk.
