We did create a better future for more children!

Today we went to Zeng Jiaping Community Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre, which is located at Furong District of Changsha, with a total number of 3,054 residents from 1,100 families.

There are 131 children aged zero to three in this community and, among those children, 23 migrated with their parents to the community. To provide a more professional and efficient service, five volunteers are selected within the village and women’s cadre from the community, who have all completed the training module.

After the visit, we had a debriefing meeting with UNICEF and local counterparts to share the reflections on the visit and some points and suggestions.

To ensure service’s quality and sustainability, a local technical support team has been set up and conducts regular on-site training and technical support at village level. A total of 269 key messages about early childhood development, in the form of 200 micro-videos, are disseminated through an online portal, offline kiosks and a mobile application. Topics include daily care, nutrition and feeding, disease prevention, immunisation, development and education, and safety and protection.

During the debriefing meeting with UNICEF and local counterparts, we reflected on the visit and shared thoughts and suggestions, including a Q&A session. The local counterparts attach importance to our reflections and make improvements as much as they can.
