What an incredible feeling…

…receiving the phone call from Theres that I am one of the three co-workers from IKEA Switzerland selected to travel to Bangladesh! I was so happy and excited, that, at the end of the phone call when Theres asked if I had any questions, I said, “Will I receive an email telling me everything that you have just told me, because all I have heard is ‘You are going to Bangladesh!’”

I believe that every person is important, that no one person is more important than another. So seeing justice is something that I am passionate about. I am also passionate about seeing young people given opportunities and fulfilling their dreams. Travelling to Bangladesh with an aid organization like Save the Children will make it so much more real than just travelling to a country and seeing the things tourists usually see. This is why I applied. When I told my friends and colleagues about the competition, they all said that it would be perfect if I got to go. And when they heard the news, they all celebrated with me and said it was meant to be.

Now the date is closing in, preparations are being finalized, immunizations are working through our bodies, and our bags are almost packed. We are getting closer and closer to landing in Dhaka, and it probably won’t be until we step out of the plane that it will become really real for me. Until then…
