#OnlyTogether can we end this pandemic
The world is seeing signs that swift vaccination can end the COVID-19 pandemic. And though millions of vaccines have reached dozens of nations that struggle with poverty, these doses cover just 2 to 3% of each country’s population. By contrast, wealthier nations expect to have their entire populations vaccinated within a few months.
But we cannot allow the world’s most vulnerable communities to be left behind. What’s more, the World Bank expects global extreme poverty to rise for the first time in two decades. It estimates that the pandemic’s devastating economic impacts could push 150 million more people into extreme poverty this year.
This is why the IKEA Foundation supports the United Nations in calling for equitable global vaccine access through the #OnlyTogether campaign—and you can help.
What can you do?
To turn this global crisis into an inclusive global recovery, many people must raise their voices. Share an image on social media showing what you miss most and will do again once the pandemic ends. Tag it with #OnlyTogether and mention @unitednations and @ikea_foundation.
No one is safe until everyone is safe.
Although a separate and independent entity from IKEA, the IKEA Foundation shares the same vision: creating a better everyday life for the many people.
The COVID-19 pandemic has strengthened our commitment to help families and communities in times of crisis through philanthropy and grantmaking.
Last year, we supported the UN and its partner Purpose in launching the Verified campaign. Verified spreads lifesaving COVID-19 information and encourages governments, businesses, philanthropies and the world at large to back fair vaccine access. #OnlyTogether is part of this campaign.
