Care for Children Royal Patron Prince Michael of Kent to announce IKEA Foundation Partnership

From 24-26 February 2014 a delegation from Care for Children, a charity with 15 years’ experience working with China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs to help place orphans into good local families, will travel to Hong Kong with its Royal Patron His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, cousin to Her Majesty the Queen of England, to formally announce the charity’s partnership with the IKEA Foundation.

Funds from the IKEA Foundation, totalling in EURO 2.68 million over three years, will enable Care for Children to grow its work in China and further develop its pilot project in Thailand. The grant will go toward training more family placement workers, seeing more children being placed into families and developing deeper relations with the charity’s partner institutions.

Following events at both the British Consulate of Hong Kong and the British Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong, Prince Michael will join the Care for Children delegation in Hanoi from 26-28 February for an exploratory trip to seek opportunities in expanding Care for Children’s work to Vietnam.
