Kids design the latest soft toys collection for IKEA

It’s time for the 13th Soft Toys for Education campaign, a good cause partnership between the IKEA Foundation, UNICEF and Save the Children. This year, kids from around the world have designed a special limited collection for the campaign. Children are helping other children to get a better start in life through education.

The Soft Toys for Education campaign aims to provide quality education to children living in poverty in some of the world’s poorest countries. For every soft toy or children’s book sold from November XX 2015 until January XX 2016, the IKEA Foundation donates €1 to Save the Children and UNICEF.

Last year IKEA Family invited customers’ children all around the world to design their dream soft toy. After receiving thousands of wonderful contributions, ten winners were chosen. The winning soft toys in the competition became patterns for the new collection named SAGOSKATT.

“These soft toys are truly fun and imaginative, but they also have a special meaning. As IKEA Foundation donates €1 per sold soft toy to UNICEF and Save the Children, this means that children are helping children to build a better future for themselves.” Bodil Fritjofsson, Product Developer, IKEA of Sweden.

For over 12 years, the Soft Toys for Education campaign has raised nearly 77 million euros, reaching more than 11 million children through 99 projects in 46 countries.

“We can only overcome poverty if we make education a priority for all children. We especially need to invest in a quality education for girls, children with disabilities and children from minority communities. No child should be left behind.” Per Heggenes, CEO IKEA Foundation

The drawing competition will be organized again during this year´s Soft Toys for Education campaign, giving even more children the opportunity to design their dream soft toy for a good cause.
